03 Feb La Bodega Tapas is a Mediterranean-themed restaurant on Price Street in Pismo Beach
Pismo Beach — Price Street, in particular — is having a culinary renaissance, and it starts with this chic, no-reservations global tapas spot. Open since 2018 in a converted bank, the bistro has a rustic look, with a semi-open kitchen, just-plucked greenery in glass bottles and Mission-style chandeliers.
La Bodega specializes in shareable small plates. Everything from the housemade empanadas and paellas to the wood-fired flatbreads is made with ingredients from local farms and purveyors, including Bautista Farms, salami pros Alle-Pia and Farmgirl Creamery. Alfresco seating, too.
Don’t miss: Grilled Octopus with roasted fingerling potatoes that were just slightly undercooked, frisee and a zingy “Brava” sauce ($26). The flaky Empanadas de Vegetarian are stuffed with summer squash, eggplant, bell peppers, mushrooms and more ($15).
Details: Open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, until 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday at 790 Price St., Pismo Beach; https://labodegapismo.com.
